We helped Hyena’s Comedy Nightclub launch its first digital marketing campaign in October 2018, and the successful results are no laughing matter.
Valynt Digital employed a strategy that focused strictly on digital solutions, which was a significant deviation from their previous strategy that focused heavily on direct mail, email marketing, and sporadic search ads. The new digital strategy resulted in three locations doubling and tripling their weekly ticket sales.
From October 2018 to June 2019, Hyena’s Comedy Nightclub doubled and tripled overall ticket sales with a solid digital makeover and solid digital marketing strategy.
The Hyena’s Comedy Nightclub website hadn’t changed much since they first opened their doors in 1993, so first up on the digital makeover checklist was a website revamp. We gave Hyena’s a fresh new look with a clean design and clear messaging. We also implemented an integrated api for ticket sales so that the website could handle any volume of ticket purchases—a smart move considering we doubled ticket sales!
To sell tickets, we knew that high-quality videos were going to be a game changer for this particular digital strategy, so we created 24 unique videos per month to be used alongside our Facebook ad campaigns.

Messaging is key when it comes to creating great ad campaigns. After sitting with the client and learning more about Hyena’s target audiences, we wrote our ad copy with one goal in mind: to quickly capture the attention of specific audiences in order to make people click the “Buy Now” button on each ad, resulting in instant sales.
Our ability to build accurate audiences on Facebook is what sets our campaigns apart from those built by other agencies. While we can’t get into too much detail without revealing the best weapon in our digital arsenal, we can say that our winning formula zeros in on specific details like age, race, gender, income, recent online purchases, favorite celebrities, weekend activities, and more. We created specific audiences for each show, because a fan that loves the raunchy comedy stylings of Pauly Shore might not be into the humorous political rantings of Tom Arnold.
Once our copy is written, the video is edited, and the audiences are built, it’s time to put it all together in a Facebook ad. Our clients were pleased to discover that our ads are able to run outside of the Facebook platform and show up on millions of websites and apps. Our Facebook ads have sold thousands of tickets for Hyena’s Comedy Nightclub in the last 90 days alone, and that $$ amount will keep rising as long as our ads are running!
Tracking the data that comes in from our ads allows us to optimize and retarget potential buyers. We can see how many people clicked our ads, how many made it to the checkout page, and how many purchased tickets. This information is then used when creating our next round of ads so that we get the biggest impact for the least amount of dollars.
Speaking of tracking data, we’re also able to retarget video viewers who watched 50%, 75%, or 100% of the videos posted in our Facebook ads. Because we’re able to track the data, we’ve been able to show our client the magic of retargeting video viewers as the data proves that people are prone to buying tickets after seeing the ad multiple times.
